CNN  —  One of the most iconic scenes in “Pride & Prejudice” (2005) is the first proposal scene. Even those who have yet to watch the beloved movie likely have some idea of the shot. Pummelled by the rain, Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) — wet hair flopping against his forehead — confesses his adoration to the spunky protagonist Elizabeth Bennet: “I love you, most ardently.” Those familiar with the story know what happens next. Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) denies him and the two part ways, continuing their strained will-they-won’t-they romance. But in Jane Austen’s original novel, the scene occurs inside, empty…

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma CNN  —  PJ Allen’s tiny body was horrifically burned when rescuers found him. Later in the hospital, the toddler was so covered in bandages, his grandmother had only his belly button to recognize him. He bears the scars of the deadliest homegrown terrorist attack in US history but has no memory of the day that’s been seared into the minds of older generations. His 73-year-old grandmother, Deloris Watson, can recall every detail. She remembers dropping off the then 18-month-old Allen at daycare at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on the morning of April…

Reuters  —  DHL Express, a division of Germany’s Deutsche Post, said it would suspend global business-to-consumer shipments worth over $800 to individuals in the United States from April 21, as US customs regulatory changes have lengthened clearance. The notice on the company website was not dated, but its metadata showed it was compiled on Saturday. DHL blamed the halt on new US customs rules which require formal entry processing on all shipments worth over $800. The minimum had been $2,500 until a change on April 5. DHL said business-to-business shipments would not be suspended but could face delays. Shipments under…

But all’s not well in Berlin’s club scene. Wilde Renate, a funhouse of stacked dancefloors inside a shabby old apartment building just over a mile from Berghain, plans to shutter by the end of the year. CNN  —  The timing, the brevity, the sudden, unilateral nature of it all. If Ukraine’s allies needed proof of Moscow’s wild cynicism when it comes to peace, the announcement of an immediate truce for Easter provided just that. It came mere hours after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his boss President Donald Trump said they would need in the coming days an urgent sign that the Kremlin was serious about peace. For Russia’s proponents, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement on Saturday looked like a nod to Trump – but the sudden declaration is so riddled with practical flaws,…

CNN  —  A national day of action against President Donald Trump and his administration has united an outpouring of protesters across the country who are rallying in defiance of what they describe as a relentless assault on democratic institutions and civil liberties.
