CNN  —  President Donald Trump’s first address to Congress since returning to power was both a victory lap following a consequential first 43 days in office and an attempt to justify what he’s done to an American public that may still be digesting his rapid-pace changes. On tariffs, government cuts and foreign affairs, Trump has taken dramatic steps that have left Democrats fuming and even some Republicans skeptical, while foreign capitals have scrambled to respond. His task Tuesday was to say why. He did that – to an extent. But the president also used his speech to relentlessly attack his…

Reuters  —  A U.S. judge on Tuesday denied billionaire Elon Musk’s request for a preliminary injunction to pause OpenAI’s transition to a for-profit model but agreed to a fast-track trial in the fall of this year, the latest turn in the high-stakes legal fight. Musk does not have “the high burden required for a preliminary injunction” to block the conversion of OpenAI, said U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in Oakland, California. But Rogers wrote in the order that she wanted to resolve the lawsuit quickly given “the public interest at stake and potential for harm if a conversion contrary…

CNN  —  Last fall, in the waning weeks of the presidential campaign, Donald Trump visited Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market, a family-owned grocery store in rural Kittanning, Pennsylvania. January inflation data released on Friday showed progress in tamping down overall price growth. Now, new tariffs on the United States’ top three trading partners threaten to kick inflation back up again. This week, the Trump administration levied 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico…

AP  —  Arab leaders on Tuesday endorsed Egypt’s postwar plan for the Gaza Strip that would allow its roughly 2 million Palestinians to remain, in a counterproposal to US President Donald Trump’s plan to depopulate the territory and redevelop it as a beach destination. It was unclear if Israel or the United States would accept the Egyptian plan whose endorsement by Arab leaders, announced by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, amounted to a widespread rejection of Trump’s proposal. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declined to comment. Tuesday’s summit in Cairo included the emir of Qatar, the vice…
