U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi stands near the site where two Israeli embassy staff were shot dead in Washington, D.C.

Reactions from US politicians to the deadly shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, last night continue to pour in, with leaders from across the political spectrum decrying the killing of two Israeli Embassy staff members.

Here’s what some US politicians have said:

Vice President JD Vance: “My heart breaks for Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, who were murdered last night at the Capital Jewish Museum. Antisemitic violence has no place in the United States. We’re praying for their families and all of our friends at the Israeli Embassy, where the two victims worked,” he said in a post on X.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee: “People here in Israel are devastated,” he said on “Fox and Friends.” “I got a call early this morning Jerusalem time from Pam Bondi, the Attorney General. She was at the scene. She gave me a brief on what was going on. I’ve spoken with the foreign minister. I’ve spoken with the minister, the Ambassador of Israel to the US and to the father of the young man who lives here in Israel.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker: “Young Jewish people and diplomats came together in a museum built to honor their shared history but then had to flee gun shots and witness the killing of a young couple. As a Jew who led the building of a museum dedicated to standing up against bigotry and hatred, I know how sacred these places are and what trauma this incident has caused,” he said in a statement.

Office of the Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff: “Last night’s horrific murder of two Israeli emb(a)sssy staff members was an act of antisemitic terrror, tragic and senseless. I continue to pray for the victims’ loved ones. This evil has no place in our world. Rest assured, justice will be served,” he said in a post on X.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro: “Next week, Yaron and Sarah were headed to Jerusalem, where Yaron would propose. I proposed to Lori in Jerusalem under the Montefiore Windmill, and we were married 28 years ago this Sunday. Yaron and Sarah should have had the same opportunity — and a life together far beyond what their murderer cut short. May their memories be a blessing and a call to action for each of us,” Shapiro posted on X.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris: “Doug and my prayers are with the loved ones of Yaron and Sarah — two young Israeli diplomats murdered in what appears to be a shocking act of antisemitic violence. I stand with the entire Jewish community in condemning this sickening violence. Antisemitism and violence have no place in our country. We all must come together and fight hatred,” Harris said on X.

Former second gentleman Doug Emhoff: “The shocking murder of two young Israeli diplomats in DC is horrifying, heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. Jews must be able to gather without fear or violence. We will not be silent and we will never let antisemitic terror defeat us. May the memory of Yaron and Sarah be a blessing,” he said in a post on X.
